Although I could have been more productive over the last couple of nights I decided to play Battlefield 4 instead. Origin offered it free for a week so I decided to go for it. Pretty fun as far as FPS shooters go. A former co-worker was crazy about this game, mostly for the online play and some of the crazy things that can occur, so perhaps I’ll give that a try next (if they allow it in this time-limited version).

I’m too old to play these kinds of games on anything but the most basic level, and I do have to resort to a little research to get through some of the more challenging levels. Whatever. Since I just downloaded it yesterday I know all of the bugs that have been identified have most likely been dealt with.

The multiplayer is definitely where that game really shines. Helicopters are amazing!

If you're not using a carbine or a DMR you're not playing battlefield

Multiplayer is where it’s at for BF. If you don’t believe me, watch some BirgirPall videos. This guy is from Finland or something and enjoys trolling people on BF. It’s funny as hell.

I used to play Battlefield 3 religiously. Such a fun multiplayer game. I haven’t played 4

I enjoyed the single player in BF4 a lot. Multiplayer was a mess, so many hackers. Honestly, BF3 multiplayer felt a lot tighter to me. I also was never able to figure out the bullet drop in 4, was a master in 3.

Hit detection in 4 was never as good as 3, though they may have improved things. That was my biggest issue - not getting consistent hit detection. They also took away my H&K G3/heavy barrel killing machine in 4.

I was pretty decent in 3 with Assault or Sniper class. I had a couple 1km+ headshots in BF3 as a sniper. In BF4 I pretty much only bothered with Assault.

I usually choose an assault rifle and either a sniper rifle or magazine-fed shotgun depending on the operation; sometimes I wish I could carry all three. This is mostly out of years of habit, but I would like to learn why I should choose a carbine or DMR instead. The DMRs seemed interesting but a bit of a compromise, and I don’t know the advantages of a carbine, but I am willing to learn.

It was more sarcasm than anything. I haven’t played in months, the reason being that, at the time, DMRs and carbines were rampantly overpowered. But I usually roll some sort of full size LMG or a PDW.

I wouldn’t suggest playing 4. It’s really disappointing even with all the patches. Also, Colonel 100?

No, I only ever reached level like 50 or so I think, if even that high. I played like 200 hours or so?

We’ll never know the true number. Somehow along the way EA deleted my Origin account. I had a hankering to play, couldn’t login to Origin. Had to produce receipts and junk to get EA to give me Battlefield at all, and even when they did my profile and stats were gone. Haven’t played since, it really sucks being level 1 with all the people at 100 now
